About Us
The School of Rock, the original school of rock founded in Philadelphia in 1998, has now grown to 60 locations nationwide, including three in the Washington DC area (Ashburn, VA, Silver Spring, MD and Vienna, VA). Paul Green, the inspiration for the Jack Black character in Paramount's hit movie "School of Rock", created the school to help our students realize their potential as artists, to put them on stage in front of as many people as possible and to help foster a new generation of incredible musicians. The school performs hundreds of shows annually across the nation, and locally in venues such as Jammin' Java, Arlington Drafthouse, Santa Fe Café, Ned Devine's Irish Village, The State Theatre and Jaxx Nightclub.
Our Performers
We have hundreds of students, aged 8 to 17, in our Washington area schools. From these we pick the cream of the crop to create a touring unit - our house band. In addition to the regular shows performed by all students, our house band plays in festivals, special events and as openers for larger acts.
Our Music
We play classic rock covers in all rock genres. We customize our shows as needed for the event, but typically play one or two sets of 45-60 minutes each.
Audience Reaction
Who doesn't love to see kids playing their favorite classic rock hits? We connect with people young and old, and never fail to put a smile on the faces of the audience. We're a great warm-up act for your headliner, and we'll try not to outdo them too badly.
Requirements
We bring our own instruments and typically supply the backline amplifiers and drum kit. We look to the event to provide the sound system and engineer. Our typical setup is 3 guitars, bass, drums, keyboards and 3 vocal mics. If timing between bands is tight, we can use the backline setup for another band.
